We entered our still cider into the International Cider Challenge and got a bronze medal
This year we entered our dry sparkling cider for the International Cider Challenge and won silver!
Our first 'Apple Day' of the year is actually an 'Apple Weekend'! We'll be hosted, as always, by Pauline and Richard Brown at their Buckingham Garden Centre, Tingewick Road, Buckingham, MK18 4AE. It's a great venue, with a lovely cafe, free parking and a huge selection of plants, gardening equipment, food and gifts to browse and buy.
The event starts at 10.00am and finished at 4.00pm on both days. It's a good opportunity to meet and chat with other orchard and fruit enthusiasts and get practical advice on finding, growing, processing and enjoying heritage fruit. There will be a comprehensive Heritage Apple Display to explore and you can have your mystery apples and pears identified by MSOG member Gerry Edwards, who heads up the RHS Fruit Group. You can buy lots of fruit trees and orchard equipment, too!
If you have a glut of fruit this year, why not bring your apples and pears to press? Remember to bring bottles to take the juice home! Alternatively, take away pre-filled bottles of our freshly pressed juice. We ask for a donation in return, which will be split equally between MSOG and the Buckingham Garden Centre's chosen charity.
If you fancy coming along and helping us with the apple pressing, please let me know. The more, the merrier!
Join us as we celebrate the fruit from our heritage orchard, including apple refreshments & a delicious lunch.
This is your chance to taste and learn about some of our 200 varieties, from Oxford Beauty and Blenheim Orange to Eynsham Dumpling and Dog's Snout.
There will be talks about apples, apple identification, cider making, and a chance to explore the orchard and take part in an orchard treasure hunt. You will have the opportunity to taste FarmED's first batch of cider made on Apple Day last year.
